The Reality Of Online Advertising

Are you aware there are only three types of online marketing? This statement may seem odd and even untrue in your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you might be thinking. The three types of advertising are Junk, Active and Passive promotions.

JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY TRAPS

By their very nature, junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but in reality it is deceptive power of appearance. You could very well be led to subscribe to a submission program under the guise that your links are being submitted to thousands of search engines. However, according to Open Directory website, they have only approved 1700 search engines and directories for inclusion in their database. Search Engine Watch and other search watchers tend to show fewer than these 1700 engines, primarily because a lot of the engines provide very little value.

Let’s use FFA (Free For All) pages as an example. FAA’s only allow up to 1000 on their page at any one time. When you submit your URL if ten thousand other people are submitting a link to an FFA page daily, then the average life span of your link is somewhere between seven to one hundred and forty four minutes. In all probability, the actual number of submitters could be much higher and the outcome is much worse. Given that few people surf FFA pages, the chances of your submission being of any real value is practically nil! Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting your site to FFA pages!

Another junk marketing method is Safe Lists. A Safe list is a mailing group of people who only want to submit their own ads. Most safe lists have thousands of subscribers, who are able to submit their ads daily or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These messages will be received by people only interested in promoting their own thing and have no motivation to open, let alone read your Advertisements. As a result, thousands of messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by anyone but the sender of add. Where is the value in that? There is none.

ACTIVE PROMOTIONS

Active promotions include Pay per Click, Search Engines, Direct Email, Newsletters Publishing, Ads, Site Marketing, Banner Ads, Auctions, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine Ads, Ezine Ad Swaps and Classified Ads. If you don’t advertise you will not sell your product or service even if it has value. Think of your website as a commercial store front. Advertising is your store front sign. If your store has no sign, that’s a sign that your store is going out of business. Your choices are simple, work or go out of business.

PASSIVE PROMOTIONS

Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges, Articles, EBooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for others. This type of article is of worth to the internet community and those that visit the internet searching for products, services and information. These kinds of articles have tremendous value in promoting a product, service or as this article, information. It can be used in newsletters, Ezine on websites and in eBooks.

AVOID THE MONEY TRAPS

Many try and yet fewer succeed in making money online. The facts are only five out of a hundred achieve their goals of online wealth. You can be one of the populace who triumph over the challenges before you and make a good living while working on the internet. It will take drive, dedication study plus trial and error, but you can make it work for you. Continue to educate yourself so that you can avoid the money traps and strive to find the money machine. It can be done!
